An old fashioned libertarian’s view on the world

GM filing bankruptcy and having Obama run it might not be the worst thing in the world. Think of it like this: it will be a test of socialism in this country. Imagine if you will, that your car needs a warranty repair. Normally, you would bring the car to the dealer, and they would fix it. They might try to weasel some other things that you do not need in order to make a few extra bucks, like telling you that your car needs a power steering system flush when you are getting the power steering pump replaced under warranty. With government managed car care, they would tell you that the normal wait for such a repair is 6 weeks, and based on your cars age and mileage, it may not be for 3 months, which of course is after the warranty expires. Of course when you do get the repair done, if you can wait that long, it will be done by kids from the local Junior High (as part of the Obama Youth Program) or homeless people from local shelters, as all the mechanics at MM dealerships went to work for Honda, Toyota, Ford or some other non-american car dealer that pays better as MM dealerships now limit mechanics to $10/hr, regardless of experience or expertise. If they screw up your car when they work on it, too bad for you. You’ll have to wait another 3 months for them to get to you again. Of course your warranty will only be in force if you use MM oil and filters and other parts in routine maintenance. Failure to do so will void your warranty and in addition you will have to pay a fine and you will also be fined if you do the work yourself. If you take your car to an independent shop or non MM dealer for work, they will be fined as well, even if they use MM parts.
Yes, it will be interesting to see how this test into socialism goes. Will you buy your next car from Messiah Motors?
