Change, But No Hope: Justice Stevens retires

leave a comment »

Another lat post. I had wanted to post this Friday, but never got the chance.

All the hullaballoo about Stevens is likely to be much ado about nothing. The reason is, he’s a liberal justice stepping down very likely to be replaced by the same. A effect of zero. A larger tragedy would be if Scalia, Alito or Thomas retired during an Obama presidency. That would be catastrophic.

So now we are faced with the prospect of having a Diane Wood, Elena Kagen, Merrick Garland or god forbid Janet Incompetano.

It’s not the end of the world, just a continuation of the liberal seat held by Stevens, the same as when The Wise Latina was appointed. Basically the status quo.

So take heart my libertarian fellows, real change and hope is coming this November. It will be the rebirth of the classical liberal movement and herald better days ahead in spite of the fabian socialist cacasotto and mountebank in chief that currently resides in the White House. Better days are coming.

PS: Is Stevens being a Cubs Fan indicative of anything? Go Yankees!

New Tea Party Member: Ginny Thomas

with 3 comments

Wife of Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas is the newest member of the Tea Party. According to Fox News, “The wife of Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas is jumping on the Tea Party bandwagon with the launch of a new conservative lobbying group and plans to attend some high-profile Tea Party rallies in the coming weeks.”
This is big news, as we really do not hear about spouses of supreme court justices let alone the justices themselves take such a public stand. Many on the left will probably poke fun at her and possibly deride her as they have Sarah Palin. Hell hath no fury against a conservative women like a NAG journalist. Fox News Continues:
Ginni Thomas founded the Virginia-based nonprofit Liberty Central back in January. Amy Feather, the group’s director of business development and marketing, told that “the hope” is that Thomas will make an appearance at a Tea Party rally on Capitol Hill on Tuesday.

That event, dubbed the “The People’s Surge Against Obamacare 2.0,” is expected to draw about 2,000 people. Tea Party leaders and other activists are planning to converge on Washington, flood congressional offices and press their representatives to vote against the health care reform bill.

I don’t know what impact Mrs. Thomas will have, but I think it will be a positive one. As they say, a dog doesn’t chase a parked car.

Obama Chides The Supreme Court:

Watch CBS News Videos Online

Justice Alito’s response:

The dilettante in chief continues his populist rehabilitation tour with his SOTU speech before congress. Does this guy understand anything? Can he and does he take responsibility for anything? Can he ever give a speech that isn’t about him at all? He a sorry excuse for a president and leader of a country.

Q:Why are Chicagoans Afraid To Come Out Of Their Homes?

leave a comment »

This is a real simple post.

Question: Why are Chicagoans afraid to come out of their homes?

Answer: Because it is the only defense they have.

Chicago, one of the most corrupt cities in the nation, has proven feckless and impotent in protecting it’s citizens. It lets the riff raff run the show, while the police play grab ankles with each other.

Why you ask? I have one supposition, no, make that two, may be, as to why. I am sure that John Lott could give a better account, but here goes.
Chicago, like other cities, has gangs. A lot of gangs in fact. What makes Chicago special is that these gangs are used to motivate and produce the vote, a lot like union thugs. Politicians use “community organizers” to liaise with gangs in order to get the people in a particular district to vote for a particular candidate. It’s the only way corrupt politicians in the 2nd most corrupt city in America can keep their jobs.

When you have such ties to gangs, which are basically organized criminals, it basically both legitimizes them and emboldens them. The politicians would rather sacrifice a few citizens and BS them later, than tackle the the real problems of crime, which is getting rid of criminals while removing their breeding grounds.

The second issues revolves around incorrect thinking. Call it liberalism if you like. Chicago is full of liberals that think all sorts of incorrect thoughts, like citizens are not allowed to protect themselves from criminals, and that criminals have more rights than free citizens. Such is the liberal dementia.

How is this manifested? The people of Chicago, and Illinois are not allowed to carry concealed weapons legally. Just like Washington DC, that other paradigm of a safe community, you just can’t do it. The criminals of course, don’t really care, as they and the local politicians are in each other’s pockets and hey, it’s business.

My advice is to allow the people, the law abiding people of Chicago and Illinois to be able to arm themselves and protect themselves. It’s a fundamental right and one that will be taken up by the Supreme Court. Until then, I have no advise for Chicagoans that is legal, except do what you have to do to protect yourself.

Until the SCOTUS decides this case, protect youself, and thank you for reading this blog.
